Hi. Thanks for the tips about using different oils to make our hair healthy. I have used coconut oil on my hair before but it’s just too oily and makes my hair so flat. Im curious to find out what’s the effect of olive oil on the hair. What kind of olive oil is best to use😀

I can say that not all types of hair respond to oil treatment similar, and coconut oil is not the perferct choice for every hair type. Since it helps retain a natural protein in the hair, it can be helpful only for those. who lack enough natural protein in hair. Research confirmed that coconut oil’s benefits are not for everyone! People with coarse or dry hair are not always lack of protein in their hair follicules, and actually use of coconut oil for those types of hair may lead to hair loss or more brittle hair. These people can be recommended to use argan oil or marula oil to promote nourishment for hair.

Another reason can be using too much oil on your hair. Coconut oil should be used in a small amount to coat hair, not to soak hair. For olive oil benefits for hair treatment, please read my post on olive oil for hair treatment! All the best!

Thanks for these tips. I wish that I could use coconut oil for my hair as I have a huge tub in the pantry which doesn’t get enough use, but it makes my hair so hard and crunchy and impossible brush. I used it a couple of times when I had severely damaged hair so I thought it would help but I guess I got protein overload and used too much? Why would that happen?
I’m curious about olive oil. I hope that it will make my hair soft and easy to brush. I’m going to have to try it in my next shower.

Vanessa, unfortunately, coconut oil benefits only for those type of hair that doesn’t have enough their natural hair protein. However, not everyone with dry hair lacks protein.
Also, coconut oil should be used in a tiny quantity. When the oil is used in large quantity, it may likely not work effectively.

I have heard so many great things about Jamaican black castor oil, and I did at one time have a shampoo with that oil in it. Needless to say, it did wonders for my hair!
